IPL Hair Removal Aftercare
Proper preparation and aftercare are essential to get the best results from your IPL Hair Removal treatment and to keep your skin safe and comfortable throughout the process.
Prior to Treatment
1. No tanning for 6 weeks prior to treatment. Please wear 30+ sunscreen on the treatment area during this time.
2. No fake tan or bronzing products to be used on the treatment area 10 days prior to the treatment.
3. No plucking or waxing 6 weeks prior to treatment (4 weeks on the face). Shaving and clipping are permitted.
4. Please cease the use of AHA's or retinoids on the treatment area.
On the Day
1. Shave the treatment area closely.
2. If possible, do not wear makeup, bronzer or tinted moisturizer on the area to be treated.
What to Expect After Treatment
The area can feel like mild sunburn. This feeling can last from a few minutes to the rest of the day. The hair is still in the follicle but the follicle has been destroyed. It will now shrink up and push out the piece of hair. This makes it look like the hairs are still growing—they will fall out in 10 to 14 days.
1. Use a Cool Compress - We advise the use of a cool compress, aloe gel or soothing cream to the area.
2. Apply Sunscreen - Please apply 30+ sunscreen to the area when in daylight, and avoid exposing the area to the sun for the duration of treatments.
3. Shave as Needed - You may shave the area as often as you wish for the duration of treatments.
1. Avoid Hot Water and Exercise - Do not wash the area in hot water or do strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.
2. Do Not Wax or Pluck - Do not wax or pluck the treated area for the duration of treatments.
3. Do Not Pick - If you develop dark crusting (from the machine picking up pigment in the skin) or a blister occurs, do not pick. Use antiseptic gel for blisters—it will self-resolve and will not leave any permanent marks. Normal skin cell turnover will clear crusting in approximately 10 to 14 days.
