Pregnancy isn’t always just the act of growing another human. For me it came with the
struggles of falling pregnant, the intense desire to be pregnant and making sure every
breathe I took ensure that this would happen and month after month of it not happening I
became obsessed with what I had done wrong (like it was my fault, but try telling your mind
that right!)
Now I’m no medical professional but I am a beauty therapist so here’s my take to help guide
you through what’s safe in the beauty Industry and what isn’t. Please keep in mind this is
YOUR journey and you must do what makes you feel comfortable, nourished and safe.
Pregnancy and the journey to falling pregnant can be a beautiful and transformative
journey—but it can also come with its fair share of physical and emotional challenges.
I believe every expecting or wanting to be mother deserves the chance to rest, relax, and
reconnect with herself. Beauty treatments during pregnancy aren’t just about looking
good—they’re about feeling good, too.
So with this in mind let’s explore the safe beauty treatments available for our pregnant
mummas , the benefits of self-care, and why being kind to your body is one of the best gifts
you can give yourself, your baby or on your journey to falling pregnant.
Taking time for yourself isn’t selfish, it’s ✨essential!✨ You’re growing a new life, and that deserves deep, compassionate care.

Why Pregnancy Self-Care Matters
Pregnancy is a time of incredible change. Hormones fluctuate, your body transforms, and emotions can run high. Amidst appointments, preparation and anticipation, it’s easy to forget yourself.
But nurturing your body isn’t vanity, it’s vitality.
Benefits of pregnancy-safe treatments:
Reduces stress and anxiety
Improves circulation and helps relieve water retention
Soothes back, leg and foot pain
Promotes better sleep
Supports healthy skin, reducing dryness and hormonal breakouts
Helps you feel like yourself again while your body performs miracles
Ensuring you are mentally fit to take on these changes can be challenging so
taking time out for a treatment can feel like pressing pause on the outside world. It gives
you space to breathe, reflect, and connect with your body. Many pregnant women report feeling emotionally lighter, more centred, and recharged after a session. And remember—a
calm mum contributes to a calm baby.

Treatments to Avoid or Approach with Caution
Some treatments are better postponed until after your baby arrives.
Avoid during pregnancy:
Retinoid-based skincare (Vitamin A derivatives)
Chemical peels and microdermabrasion
Hot stone massage
Certain essential oils (always check with your therapist)
Laser treatments and injectables (like Botox)
Your comfort and safety always come first, so make sure to let your therapist know you’re expecting, no matter how early or late in your journey.
